Na 46. Krakowskim Festiwalu Filmowym zaprezentowano 91 produkcji, które oceniały 2 składy jury: międzynarodowe pod przewodnictwem Jerzego Stuhra oraz ogólnopolskie z Janem Jakubem Kolskim na czele.

Nagroda Smok Smoków przyznawana jest przez organizatorów Krakowskiego Festiwalu Filmowego za całokształt twórczości w dziedzinie filmu krótkometrażowego i dokumentalnego. Po raz pierwszy tę międzynarodową nagrodę dostał w 1998 r.
